The Lapel High School volleyball team is in the midst of an exciting offseason as we prepare for the 2025 season. Our players have been hard at work, not only honing their skills but also building a positive team culture. As we move forward, we’re focusing on growth both on and off the court. Here’s an update on our offseason focus and what’s to come.
Offseason Focus
This offseason, our primary focus is building a strong, positive team culture. We’ve got a group of hard-working, dedicated girls who refuse to quit, and we’re working on empowering our players to step into leadership roles. We’re focused on developing leadership and confidence, especially in those stepping into bigger roles after our senior class graduates. It’s all about preparing them to take ownership of their responsibilities and creating a team dynamic that fuels success.
Special Offseason Events
While specific events for team bonding and skill development weren’t mentioned, our team is committed to finding ways to improve throughout the offseason, including working hard in open gyms and team training. We also know that team chemistry is vital, and we’re focused on cultivating that during practices and any team events.
Notable Additions & Departures
We’re losing four seniors this season, so there will be some younger players stepping into leadership positions. This is an exciting opportunity for some of our players to showcase their potential and grow into their roles. Our roster is full of talented and eager players ready to step up and take charge on the court, and we’re excited to see who rises to the occasion.
Players to Watch
We’ve got some key returners who are ready to lead the way this season. Krosley Riggs and Laniah Wills bring not only talent but passion and positive energy to the team. They will be key players to rely on for their experience and leadership. We also have several players who have been putting in extra work in the offseason, including Taylor Filbrun, Ella Reed, McKenna Kobli, Ohara Bledsoe, and Layla Graham. These athletes have been preparing for bigger roles and are determined to make an impact on the court this season.
Weight Lifting and Fitness
While there were no specific details on offseason weight training methods, we know that our players are committed to improving their fitness through individual training. Staying in top physical condition will be key to their success this season.
Nutrition
There are no specific nutrition programs in place at the moment, but we always emphasize the importance of fueling their bodies properly to help them perform at their best. A balanced diet is crucial for sustaining energy during practices and games, and we encourage our players to make wise food choices.
Coaching Perspective
As coaches, we’re preparing for the upcoming season by focusing on rewarding our players with playing time. Many of the girls have been waiting their turn to shine on the floor, and we’re excited to give them opportunities to prove themselves. The goal is to find ways to recognize and support those who have been working tirelessly behind the scenes, ensuring they get their moment to contribute to the team’s success.
Fan Engagement & Community Impact
Our team has a strong connection with the community through our feeder program with the Optimist Club in Lapel. During February and March, our high school players volunteer their time to mentor 2nd-6th graders in practices and games. This provides a fantastic opportunity for younger players to look up to our high school team and get excited about the sport. It’s a great way to build community involvement and inspire the next generation of players.
Biggest Challenges Ahead
Our biggest challenge this season will be seeing who is ready to step up into bigger roles and perform well under pressure. With some players transitioning into new positions, we’ll need to rely on our team’s growth and preparation to meet the challenges of the season head-on. We’re excited to see how our players handle these opportunities and rise to the occasion.
With a strong focus on leadership, teamwork, and individual growth, the Lapel High School volleyball team is poised for an exciting 2025 season. We’ve got a dedicated group of players who are ready to take on new challenges and make a lasting impact on the court. We can’t wait to see what the upcoming season holds!
