A Preview of the Loara High School Softball Team: One Last Shot at Greatness Loara High School's softball team is gearing up for the final season in the Garden Grove League, and they are determined to make their mark. Coach Marissa Ezell is determined to see her team improve off of last season and become a threat once again. With the return of key players and a positive team dynamic, Loara High School is ready to make a statement on the field. Returning players play a crucial role in the team's success, bringing both experience and leadership. The team's two pitchers and catcher are expected to step up and guide the team through the season with their skills and positive attitude. However, what makes this team truly special is their ability to have fun. Coach Ezell notes that whether a player is a starter on varsity or a bench player on JV, they all interact and support each other, creating a strong team bond. This camaraderie will undoubtedly play a vital role in the team's success. One standout player on the team is Crystal Carrillo, who has returned to the team from San Diego. Coach Ezell praises her for making everything look easy and expects her to have a smooth transition from a utility player to the team's shortstop. This addition to the team adds depth and versatility to the roster. One of the strengths of this team is their leadership, with three captains leading the way. Lisa Trejo, a four-year player, has shown tremendous growth and development during her time with the team. Sinamapu Fina'i, the team's catcher, has used past challenges as motivation to become a positive influence on and off the field. Laisha Santaolalla, a junior, is beyond her years in terms of maturity and takes on the role of a "mama bear" for her teammates. With these three leading the team, Coach Ezell is confident in their ability to guide the team to success. When asked what she needs to do to lead this team, Coach Ezell simply stated that she doesn't need to do anything. This team is different from last season because they fight for each other and have each other's backs. The best teams are ones that can come together and support each other, and Coach Ezell believes this team has that mentality. As a former player, Coach Ezell understands the mental struggle that comes with the game of softball.
