Good luck this season! As the new season approaches for Los Osos High School Boys Volleyball team, Coach Mainor Ramos is determined to change the perception of his team. Last year, the team faced many struggles as a new program and this year, their main goal is to show the league that they have what it takes to compete. With a young and talented team, Coach Ramos believes that the key to success lies in moving away from being a new program and proving their place in the league. The top returning player from last season is Josiah Blackwell, a standout 6’4 sophomore middle. Coach Ramos describes Josiah as a special player who is always willing to compete and put his team’s success before his own. With a strong work ethic and commitment to constant improvement, Josiah is expected to be a key player for the team this season. In terms of new players, Coach Ramos is looking to freshman Aidan Gross to make an immediate impact as a Libero. Aidan, along with other young talents on the team, brings a fresh energy and enthusiasm that is expected to push the team towards success. When it comes to selecting team captains, Coach Ramos looks for more than just on-court leadership. He wants someone who can be a mentor to the team, who has the respect of their peers, and who shows passion for the sport both on and off the court. The team captains for this season are still being decided, but Coach Ramos has his eye on a few players who possess these qualities and are battling for the role. Building team chemistry and camaraderie is always a challenge for a new program, but with a group of boys who have been playing club volleyball and acquired a strong level of volleyball knowledge, Coach Ramos is confident in their ability to come together and show their potential on the court. He believes that their love for the sport and dedication to improvement will play a crucial role in building a strong team dynamic. To push his players to their full potential, Coach Ramos believes in being a present and supportive coach. He motivates his team by being there for them, acknowledging their great moments and supporting them even in their worst ones. By giving them the confidence to make big plays and pushing them to continue moving forward, Coach Ramos aims to instill a strong belief in their abilities which will ultimately lead to success.
