This year, the Making Waves Academy community is buzzing with excitement about the upcoming sports season. We sat down with Coach George Phillips to get a preview of what’s in store for the team this year. Q: Can you tell us a little bit about your background and experience as a coach? A: I have been coaching at Making Waves Academy for the past seven years. Before that, I coached at various high schools and community colleges. I also played basketball at the collegiate level and have always been passionate about sports. Q: What are your thoughts on the upcoming sports season? A: I am very excited and optimistic about the upcoming season. We have a talented group of athletes who have been working hard during the off-season to improve their skills and conditioning. We have high expectations for our team this year. Q: What are some of the strengths of the team? A: Our team’s biggest strength is their chemistry and team spirit. They have been playing together for a few years now and have built a strong bond. This translates onto the court as they are able to anticipate each other’s moves and work together seamlessly. Our team also has a strong work ethic, they are always willing to put in the extra effort to improve and achieve success. Q: Any new additions to the team this year? A: Yes, we have a few new players joining the team this year. We have some talented freshmen who have shown a lot of potential during our tryouts. We also have some transfers from other schools who bring a lot of experience and skill to our team. Q: Who are some key players to watch out for this year? A: I believe our entire team is full of potential and each player brings something unique to the game. However, there are a few players who have stood out during our practices and scrimmages. Our senior point guard, Emily, is a great leader on and off the court. She has a strong basketball IQ and is a great playmaker. Our junior small forward, Marcus, is an incredible shooter and has worked on his defense, making him a versatile player.
