Club Season Keeps Players Sharp At Mill Valley High School, volleyball never really stops. While the school season may be on pause, the players have stayed active in their respective club volleyball schedules, continuing to develop their skills, compete at a high level, and gain invaluable experience. “Right now is the busiest time of year for them with club, and it’s exciting to see all the success they’re having,” said Head Coach Kylie Corneliusen. Summer Plans: Camp and Scrimmages The Jaguars are gearing up for summer with a team camp set for June, offering a perfect opportunity to reconnect and set the tone for the upcoming season. The coaching staff is also keeping things flexible to support players traveling for nationals, ensuring a healthy balance between school and club play. Roster Turnover Sparks Opportunity Mill Valley graduated five impactful seniors, leaving big shoes to fill. But Coach Corneliusen is optimistic about the talent ready to rise into those roles. “We’ll miss our seniors, no doubt, but I’m excited to see some of our younger kids step up and show what they can do.” Returning Core Sets Strong Foundation Several key returners are poised to take on even larger roles this fall. They include: Ella Florez – A steady presence at setter who helped run the offense last season. Riley Riggs – Powerful outside hitter with experience and leadership potential. Sophia Sturdy – Versatile OH/RS ready for a breakout year. Corinne Schwindt – Reliable libero who will anchor the defense. Leilah Perry & Olivia Nzioki – Middle blockers who bring strength at the net and valuable varsity experience. Together, this core group provides both consistency and a competitive edge as the team reloads. Looking Ahead As the Jaguars prepare to blend experienced returners with fresh faces, they face the usual offseason challenge of building chemistry with a shifting lineup. Still, with strong leadership and a passionate group, Mill Valley is well-positioned for another competitive season in Kansas high school volleyball. “We’ve got a talented group that’s hungry to prove themselves. I can’t wait to get started.”
