The Mountain View High School lacrosse team is gearing up for another exciting season with ambitious goals of becoming back-to-back league champions and making a deep playoff run. Coach Andrew Beattie is determined to instill a team-first mentality and foster a strong sense of camaraderie and chemistry among the players. When asked about his goals for the season, Coach Beattie emphasizes the importance of playing “nitty gritty mountain view lacrosse” and putting the team above individual success. This approach, combined with dedication and hard work, will be key to achieving their goals. The team will also need to stay focused and play for each other rather than for personal gain. The qualities that Coach Beattie looks for in his team captains are dedication, hard work, communication, and a team-first attitude. This season’s captains, Diego Ortega, Gabriel Gallentine, Nicholas Guindi, and Ryan Pacheco, possess these qualities and will be crucial in leading the team to success on and off the field. To promote team chemistry and camaraderie, Coach Beattie has planned team bonding dinners before major games and “fun Fridays” where the team can relax and have some fun together. As a coach, he understands the importance of creating a positive and supportive environment for the players to thrive in. Motivating players to push themselves to their full potential can sometimes be a challenge. Coach Beattie believes in creating drills and activities that are both fun and beneficial for the players’ development. He also encourages self-reflection, as he believes that the players’ self-motivation is crucial in achieving success. Preparing for this season has not been without its challenges. Some of the biggest obstacles include making sure the team is all on the same page and eligible to play by maintaining a good balance between school, sports, and personal life. However, with the dedication and hard work of the players and coaches, these challenges will be overcome. The team’s schedule for this season will test their mental toughness and ability to overcome adversity. In addition to facing tough opponents, the team will also have to maintain a clear and focused mindset on the field. Coach Beattie stresses the importance of being mentally sharp and avoiding complacency, as it can lead to the other team gaining an advantage. Communication is another essential aspect of success for the Mountain View lacrosse team. Coach Beattie believes that communication is the key to coordinating plays and executing them effectively.
