The 2024-25 season was a defining year for Parkway Christian Boys Basketball, as the team captured both a share of the conference championship and its first district title since 2018. Under Head Coach Micah McLain, the Eagles soared to a 17-8 overall record and 10-2 in conference play, showing resilience, growth, and a strong team identity. Key Contributors & Impact Players The senior leadership core was pivotal: Julian Montano – The engine of the offense, running the point and controlling the tempo. Nathaniel Harrison – Delivered clutch shots in pressure moments. Tyler Powers – A versatile inside-out force who impacted both ends of the floor. Isaiah Harrison – A consistent contributor who stepped up whenever needed. Sophomore Zaheem Cannon emerged as a standout defender, consistently locking down opponents’ top scoring threats. Season Summary & Highlights Coach McLain called the season a “huge success,” noting that the team achieved significant milestones. Among the top highlights: Winning a share of the conference title for the first time in seven years. Winning the district championship with a strong postseason bounce-back. A thrilling comeback against Whitmore Lake on the road, overcoming a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter to win 53–48 and clinch a share of the conference crown. Growth & Development Sophomore Zaheem Cannon was one of the most improved players on the roster. His breakout 24-point performance in the district finals was a reflection of his season-long progress. Resilience in Adversity The team faced its share of setbacks, including a 25-point loss in the opener. They responded by ripping off six straight wins. Following a heartbreaking overtime loss mid-season, they rebounded with three dominant wins, averaging a 34-point margin of victory. Heading into the playoffs with losses in 3 of their last 4 games, they still found the strength to regroup and bring home the district title. Senior Leadership Coach McLain praised the senior class for their example-setting leadership, work ethic, and selflessness. “They put the team first, held each other accountable, and played for the cross on their backs,” he said. Looking Ahead The program’s future is bright, anchored by young leaders like Zaheem Cannon and Evan Walcott. With a culture of effort and excellence firmly in place, Coach McLain is excited to continue developing the next generation.
