Redlands Adventist Academy is gearing up for another exciting season in the water. As the team prepares for their upcoming swim meets, Coach Claire Moses sits down to discuss her hopes for the team, key returning swimmers, and the challenges and strategies for success. Coach Moses sets the bar high for her team this season, aiming for a top three finish in their league, with the goal of getting as many swimmers as possible to qualify for CIFs. Her ultimate goal is to see some of her swimmers make it to the CIF finals. This ambitious outlook is not without basis, as the team has been working hard in practice, building a strong team dynamic and forming relationships on and off the deck. One of the key factors for the team's success is their constant practice. Coach Moses emphasizes the importance of dedication and hard work, as well as teamwork and strong relationships between swimmers and coaches. This is evident in the way their swimmers stand out at meets, showcasing not only their skills in the water but also their respect and camaraderie. When asked about the top returning swimmers on the team, Coach Moses highlights Samuel Monterio-Gomes, Ethan Hill, and Jasmine Moses. These two boys were part of the CIF relay team last year and showed determination and positivity throughout the season. Jasmine, who was the only girl to make it to CIFs, not only showcases her talent in the water but also encourages and supports her teammates. Her experience on the team has also helped her in guiding her fellow teammates through the process of swim meets. However, Coach Moses believes that the biggest impact this year will come from Anton Zivanovic. As a senior and a first-time swimmer for the school, Anton brings a wealth of experience to the team and has a good shot at making it to the state level. His presence and skills will undoubtedly have a huge impact on the team's performance this season. When it comes to qualities that Coach Moses looks for in her swimmers, she emphasizes the importance of being able to motivate teammates, good sportsmanship, hard work, honesty, respect, dependability, and competitiveness. The team's co-captains, Anton and Samuel, exemplify all these qualities daily and play a crucial role in the team's success. To foster team chemistry, the team engages in various team bonding activities such as games, partner drills, and cheering for each other during races.
