As the Rocky Mountain High School volleyball program enters the heart of its offseason, the energy is focused, the goals are clear, and the commitment from coaches and players alike is stronger than ever. Offseason Focus: A Drive to Improve The message from Assistant Coach Alisa Schiele is simple but powerful: “Get a whole lot better!” The offseason has been all about maximizing touches on the ball and creating as many opportunities as possible for players to compete and grow. From open gyms to skill-specific sessions, the Lady Grizzlies are putting in the work. Special Offseason Events: Camps, Trips, and Team Bonding This summer promises to be a full one for Rocky Mountain Volleyball. A highlight will be the team’s trip to Utah Valley University’s Team Camp in July, where the group will stay together in an Airbnb—blending high-level competition with off-court team bonding. The team will also attend the Boise State Beach Volleyball Camp and several local tournaments, and they will host their own skills camp and tri-matches, ensuring both growth and exposure for all athletes. Roster Updates: A Farewell and a Look Ahead The coaching staff remains intact, bringing stability to the program. While the team says goodbye to standout setter Mak Frith, the core remains strong. Leadership will now shift to returning seniors Chloe Hansen and London Armstrong, both three-year varsity veterans poised for big seasons. Players to Watch: Experience Meets Potential All eyes will be on Chloe and London, but they’re not alone. The roster includes six returning juniors, all of whom are expected to make a significant impact. Coaches have been especially impressed with the offseason efforts across the board, with players showing noticeable progress in consistency, strength, and game IQ. Training & Development: Smart and Specialized To ensure players are physically ready for the demands of the season, Rocky Mountain partners with Off the Field, a local company that tailors sport-specific workout plans. Their custom approach has become a key piece of the team’s preparation. Coaching Growth: Always Learning The coaching staff is also staying sharp by attending monthly meetings and participating in professional development opportunities, including the Gold Medal Squared (GMS) Coaching Clinic. It’s part of the program’s philosophy to grow alongside its athletes. Engaging the Community: Staying Connected To strengthen ties with families and fans, the program has launched a monthly newsletter, giving insights into team progress, upcoming events, and ways the community can get involved. It’s a small step that’s making a big difference in building school spirit. Looking Ahead: The Challenge at the Top With a competitive schedule and strong programs across the state, Coach Schiele knows the road ahead won’t be easy. “Beating the top teams in the state” is the challenge—and the ultimate goal. As the countdown to the fall season continues, one thing is clear: the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies are putting in the work, staying united, and gearing up for a run that fans won’t want to miss.
