After a historic run to the Regional Final—the program’s first since the 1996–97 season—the Roscommon Lady Bucks have plenty to celebrate and even more to look forward to. Under the guidance of Head Coach Greg Kauffman, the team showcased talent, depth, and resilience throughout a memorable 2024–25 campaign.
“We have plenty to be proud of,” said Coach Kauffman. “The girls gave great effort all season. Even though it was successful, they want more—and that’s what excites me most.”
Stars That Shined
Two junior standouts led the way:
Zoey Kauffman filled the stat sheet, leading the team in points (300), assists (84), steals (84), and deflections (88), while finishing second in rebounds (141). A three-time First Team All-Conference selection, Zoey’s versatility and high basketball IQ allowed her to play every position except center. Whether scoring inside, slashing to the basket, or hitting the three, Zoey was the team’s engine.
Alexis Carper, another dynamic junior, was second in scoring (288 points) and assists (64), led the team in rebounds (228), and contributed 71 steals. Known for her rebounding instincts and improved offensive game, Alexis continues to evolve into a true two-way force. She, too, is a multi-year First Team All-Conference honoree.
Together, they propelled Roscommon to back-to-back District titles and a deep postseason run, culminating in a win over rival Evart, which had beaten them twice in the regular season, to secure a spot in the Regional Final.
Key Moments
One of the most dramatic swings in the season came after a heartbreaking half-court buzzer-beater loss to McBain, which knocked Roscommon out of conference title contention. But the team bounced back in style, winning a one-point thriller over Manton to secure the top seed in Districts—and then rolled to their second straight title.
Rising Contributors
In addition to the stars, several players stepped into larger roles:
Kylie Traver (Jr.) emerged as a strong shooter and defender.
Mara Williams (So.), the team’s point guard, developed her offensive game and improved her ability to attack and finish.
Nemiah Carper (So.) finished third in scoring (154 points) and showcased elite athleticism and potential as a versatile post threat.
Bench players Aubrey Bunn, Bailey Monroe (Jrs), and Cami Hamina (So.) offered key scoring spurts and will be counted on more next year.
Seniors Set the Tone
Seniors Elise Cherven and Haylee Theobald embodied leadership and positivity. Though their on-court minutes were limited, their impact was immense through hard work, team-first attitudes, and unwavering support from the bench.
Looking Ahead
Roscommon returns 90% of its roster next season, and expectations are sky-high. “It’s rare to have the kind of season we had and return nearly everyone,” said Coach Kauffman. “We’re deep, talented, experienced—and we’re hungry.”
Offseason Focus
While individual skill development is key, Kauffman emphasizes mastering the basics: ball handling, passing, footwork, defense, communication, and shooting. “It’s the little things that win big games,” he said.
