As Roxbury Volleyball enters the 2025 season, Head Coach Alison Roumes and her staff are focused on continuing the program’s tradition of growth and competitiveness, even after graduating a powerhouse senior class. With key returning players and a fresh wave of talent on the rise, this offseason has been all about player development and preparing for a new team identity. Offseason Focus The Roxbury program is fortunate to have a large percentage of players participating in club volleyball during the offseason. This consistent play has allowed athletes to sharpen their skills, improve versatility, and evolve into more well-rounded contributors. The emphasis this offseason has been on personal development and technical progression, laying the groundwork for team success come fall. Notable Departures & New Faces Roxbury will enter the season with a different look, following the graduation of nine seniors, including key contributors like: Jenna Heiser, a six-rotation outside hitter Sarah Biczak, a three-year varsity starter Bianca Jackson, a four-year varsity veteran Their departure leaves big shoes to fill—but also opens up opportunities for younger players to step up. One newcomer to watch is Junior Gianna Benfatti, who is expected to make an immediate impact on the varsity roster. Players to Watch Returning leadership will be critical this season, and Senior Alyssa Buksoky is ready to rise to the challenge. As a six-rotation outside hitter, she brings versatility and consistency to the court. Another standout is Jaelyn Fogg, a three-year varsity player whose experience and court presence will be vital as Roxbury navigates this transition season. Biggest Challenges Ahead The biggest obstacle this year? Rebuilding chemistry and filling the gaps left by last year’s senior-heavy roster. But Coach Roumes is optimistic, highlighting the competitive energy within the program: “There’s a lot of opportunity for younger players to step up and compete for spots,” she says. “This will be a defining season for our next wave of leaders.”
