Wed, April 9, 2025 at 04:04 AM . Texas
With the 2025 season on the horizon, the Salado Eagles are focused on developing a championship mindset and building strength and speed to compete at the highest level. Head Coach Ricky Beaty has emphasized a “fear no one” and “relentless” mentality as the team looks to establish itself among the best in Texas football. Offseason Focus & Key Players to Watch Salado is returning many of its top playmakers from last season, though the team will have to replace its entire offensive line. However, standout players are ready to step up in key roles: Devonte Foster (QB/DB) – A dynamic two-way athlete who will lead the offense. Luke Bingham (RB) – A hard-nosed runner who will be a focal point in the ground game. Gabe Merriman (WR) – An explosive playmaker in the passing attack. Brayden Dildine (DB) – A returning starter who will contribute on both sides of the ball. Damonte Foster & Michael Edmondson (LBs) – Defensive leaders expected to dominate. Mason Olson (S) – A key presence in the secondary and a defensive leader. Christian Norcross (OL/DL) & Austin Ackerman (C) – Critical pieces in the trenches. Ryder Balmos & Owen Gunter – Two sophomores projected to be among the best in the district. Building a Winning Culture The Eagles are fostering leadership and accountability through their Champions Notebook sessions, focusing on character development. Additionally, the team has implemented an offseason competition where players draft teams and earn points for academics, attendance, workouts, and leadership. This has driven a higher level of effort and commitment from the players. Fan & Community Engagement Salado is one of the most connected programs in Texas when it comes to fan engagement. The team will host multiple events to bring the community together, including: Meet the Eagles, Moms 101, Decals with Dads, and Moms Brunch (all in August). "Men of Influence" game mid-season. Special recognition nights for youth football, middle school players, and special needs athletes. Challenges & Season Outlook The Eagles are determined to take the next step and compete with Texas’ elite programs. Their biggest challenge? Breaking through to the top tier of the state. With a strong core of returning talent, an elite work ethic, and unwavering community support, Salado has the pieces in place to make a deep playoff run in 2025.
