Offseason Focus For the Steamboat Springs Boys Tennis team, the offseason has been a crucial time for development and refinement. With the high school season behind them, several players have taken advantage of the break to focus on technical adjustments—something that’s often difficult to do mid-season. Many of the athletes are participating in the junior program a couple of days a week and maintaining their physical fitness through consistent gym workouts. The commitment to both skill and strength development is setting a solid foundation for the upcoming season. Special Offseason Events While there are no mandatory offseason events for the high school team, players are strongly encouraged to attend the annual RARE AIR Tennis Camp from June 23-27 at the Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Complex. This elite training opportunity brings in celebrity guest coaches, including Division I college head coaches, former pros, and top collegiate players. The camp not only enhances player development but also fosters deeper team connections. In addition, a regular summer program is available for players looking to stay sharp and competitive. Notable Additions & Departures The team is experiencing a bit of a transitional period after the graduation of five senior players. However, optimism is high as new talent is stepping in, many of whom have come up through the local competitive development pipeline. These young athletes are familiar with the program’s philosophy and are eager to make their mark at the varsity level. Players to Watch There’s a lot of excitement surrounding incoming freshmen Preston Gautreaux, Gabriel Merage, and Will Volk, all of whom are expected to hold top positions in the varsity lineup right out of the gate. Their maturity, competitive drive, and technical skills make them standouts already. Garrett Moyer, a rising sophomore, has also been putting in significant work this offseason and is showing remarkable improvement, both physically and strategically. Looking Ahead As the team prepares for the upcoming season, the focus remains on individual player development, team culture, and making the most of opportunities like the RARE AIR camp. With new faces stepping up and a strong coaching staff guiding the way, Steamboat Springs Boys Tennis is poised for an exciting and competitive season ahead. Stay tuned—big things are coming.
