As the school year starts, high school sports teams across the country are gearing up for their upcoming seasons. In Waterford High School, the boys' varsity basketball team is ready to hit the court with a new coach and a talented group of players. We had the opportunity to speak with Coach Rick LaFerriere about his team and their expectations for the season ahead. Coach LaFerriere has been coaching basketball for over 20 years and comes to Waterford High with a wealth of experience. He has previously coached at both the high school and college levels, and is excited to bring his knowledge and passion for the game to this year's team at Waterford High. Q: Can you tell us a bit about your team this year, Coach? A: Absolutely. We have a great group of guys this year who are all hardworking and dedicated to the sport. We have a mix of experienced players as well as some younger players who have a lot of potential. Overall, I am very excited about this team and what we can accomplish together. Q: What are some of the strengths of your team? A: Our team has a lot of athleticism, which will be a big advantage on the court. We also have some solid shooters and a strong defense. Our depth is also a strength, as we have a good mix of players who can contribute in different ways. Q: Are there any specific players or returners that you have high expectations for? A: One player to watch is our senior captain, Michael Smith. He has been a key player for us in the past and I expect him to have a big impact on the court this year. Our junior point guard, Alex Jones, is also a player to keep an eye on. He has great court vision and can make things happen on the court. We also have several returning seniors who I have high expectations for, as they have all put in a lot of hard work in the off-season. Q: How has the team been preparing for the upcoming season? A: We have been working hard in the off-season with practices and weight training. We have also participated in several summer camps and tournaments to get some game experience. The team has shown a lot of determination and commitment during these preparations, which I believe will pay off on the court this season. Q: What goals have you set for the team this year?
