Mon, April 7, 2025 at 06:04 AM . New York
As the West Genesee Wildcats prepare for a pivotal Fall 2025 season, the program is setting the stage for long-term growth and competitive success. With a move to a larger league on the horizon, the focus has been on preparing athletes physically and mentally for a tougher schedule while continuing to build team chemistry through offseason opportunities. Offseason Focus Coach Carrie Corley has emphasized positional versatility this offseason, encouraging athletes to step outside of their comfort zones. “We push them to play more than one position,” she says, which has been reinforced through club volleyball play across the roster. This multi-position development is aimed at improving depth and adaptability. Offseason Events & Player Development West Genesee has packed the summer with training and bonding opportunities: Annual summer camp hosted on campus. Participation in the Colgate University team camp, a competitive environment for refining skills. Weekly Tuesday night league play in Liverpool, fostering match experience during the offseason. Regular open gyms to keep touches consistent and the team atmosphere strong. These events not only strengthen skills, but also build camaraderie and continuity throughout all levels of the program. Roster Moves & Standouts While it’s too early to lock in roster changes, several returning players are showing strong commitment through their offseason work. With athletes deeply involved in club play, Coach Corley expects several individuals to return with elevated game IQ and refined mechanics. Fan & Community Engagement The Wildcats remain active on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) throughout the offseason, sharing player highlights, team achievements, and behind-the-scenes moments. The consistent social media presence keeps fans connected and excited for what's ahead. Biggest Challenge Ahead This fall, West Genesee leaps to a larger league, facing off against bigger and more competitive schools. Coach Corley acknowledges the challenge but sees it as a key opportunity for the team to rise to a new level. The focus will be on competing with confidence, leaning on offseason work, and embracing the growth that comes from stiffer competition.
