With the 2025 football season approaching, Westwood High School is laser-focused on building strength, speed, and team chemistry under Head Coach Brandon Large. The Warriors are looking to capitalize on returning talent while integrating new coaching additions and impact transfers on the defensive side of the ball. Offseason Focus & Key Players to Watch Westwood has been prioritizing strength and speed training, while also fostering team unity. Several standout players are expected to lead the charge: Apaiata Tengei (DE, 2026) – Gaining major recruiting attention; poised for a dominant senior year. Preston Atwood (DT, 2026) – A two-time All-Region player anchoring the defensive line. Dax Clark (LB, 2026) – Two-time All-Region linebacker, expected to make a major impact. Dallin Hansen (DB, 2026) – A proven defensive leader with All-Region honors. Elliot Reed (QB, 2026) – A returning All-Region player focused on growing as a leader. Keshawn Barkus (RB, 2027) – Led 6A in rushing during the regular season as a sophomore; a game-changer on offense. Summer Camps & Competition Westwood will attend a football team camp in July and participate in 7v7 and lineman tournaments in June to sharpen skills and enhance team chemistry. Strength, Nutrition & Player Development The Warriors have secured a sponsorship with G2G Protein, ensuring players receive daily protein to support muscle recovery and growth. Additionally, the coaching staff is using the offseason to study new schemes and techniques to put athletes in the best position to succeed. Community Engagement & Fan Support Westwood has been actively involved in the local community, recently completing its Warrior Flag Football Season, where players coached over 200 youth for nine weeks. Events like these are strengthening fan engagement and building excitement for the upcoming season. Challenges & Season Outlook The Warriors’ biggest challenge will be maintaining consistency, staying disciplined, and improving every day. With a strong core of returning talent, key defensive reinforcements, and a dedicated coaching staff, Westwood is primed for another competitive season in 2025.
