As the new school year begins, excitement and anticipation fills the air at Whittier Christian High School. The fall season brings with it a new year of sports, and one team in particular is generating buzz among students, parents, and the community. The Whittier Christian High School football team, led by Coach Rodney Davis, is gearing up for an impressive season. I had the opportunity to speak with Coach Davis about his team and their outlook for the upcoming year. Q: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your coaching background? A: I have been coaching for over 20 years, and this is my 7th year at Whittier Christian High School. I have also coached at the college level and have had the opportunity to work with talented athletes at all levels. I have always had a passion for sports and being able to coach and mentor young athletes is something I truly enjoy. Q: How would you describe the atmosphere and culture of the football team at Whittier Christian High School? A: The atmosphere and culture of our team is one of dedication and hard work. We have a group of talented athletes who are committed to their sport and to representing our school with integrity and sportsmanship. We have a strong sense of camaraderie and brotherhood among our players, and our coaching staff strives to create a positive and supportive environment for the team. Q: What are some key returning players that we should keep an eye on this year? A: We have many talented players coming back this year, but a few that stand out are our quarterback, Quinn Commans, our leading receiver, MacKenzie Nielsen, and our running back, Sam Lavin. These players have put in a lot of hard work over the summer and are ready to lead the team on the field this year. Q: Are there any new players that you are excited to see in action? A: We have a few new players that we are excited to see on the field this year. One in particular is freshman, Ryan Crouch. He is a young player with great potential and we are excited to see how he performs on the varsity level. We also have a transfer student, Ethan Maness, who will make an impact on our offensive line this year. Q: What is the overall goal for the Whittier Christian High School football team this year? A: Our goal is to win our league and make it to the playoffs.
