Mon, April 21, 2025 at 08:04 AM . Colorado
As the Lady Panthers gear up for another exciting season, Woodland Park High School Softball is embracing change while doubling down on the winning culture they’ve built under Head Coach Cliff Richardson. With standout returners, promising new talent, and a brand-new home field in the works, the program is buzzing with momentum. Offseason Focus: Readiness and Resilience While details about offseason training are still under wraps, there’s no doubt the focus is on maintaining the program’s competitive edge, especially with a roster featuring returning stars and determined comeback players. Star Power Returning to the Lineup The Panthers will be led by Christine Renteria (SS), the reigning Tri-Peaks League II Player of the Year, who’s ready to defend her title and anchor the infield with elite-level consistency and leadership. Also stepping into the spotlight: Austin DiFabio (Catcher) – Taking over starting duties behind the plate, DiFabio is ready to make a big impact. Adey Hughes (3B) – After a knee injury cut her season short, Hughes is set for a major comeback and could be one of the team’s most inspiring stories this fall. Biggest Challenge: New Home, New Chapter One of the biggest shakeups for Woodland Park Softball? Losing their home field. The team has been removed from Merit Field, but the future is bright with plans for a brand-new on-campus field. It’s a major shift, but one that signals growth and renewed investment in the program. “Losing a field is tough, but gaining a new home field on campus? That’s a game-changer for the future of Panther Softball.” – Coach Richardson As the team trains and plans around these changes, there’s a clear theme for 2025: Adapt. Overcome. Excel. With seasoned leaders and a dedicated coaching staff, Woodland Park Softball is poised for another strong run—this time with a new home and the same hunger.
